Your oceanfront escape!

Maureen was very pleasant upon arrival and the room at the Seafoam Building was clean and comfortable. We headed right for the beach and were very shocked to see the massive crowds of people directly in front of the hotel (this was at 5pm). The Seafoam building is adjacent to the public access but we expected the hotel would have rights to some part of the beach but this was obviously not the case. The next day we headed out to a more quiet beach and upon returning to the hotel, we were greeted with an angry man who stared us down and then charged our car as soon as we opened our doors. His opening statement in a rude tone was “if you aren’t staying at the hotel, your car will be towed”. My husband responded we were hotel guests and he again rudely replied “people who stay here have a parking pass to display in the window”. My husband quickly found it in the car and displayed it on the dashboard. Rather than apologize for the misunderstanding, he continued to harass us telling us he has been in business over 40 years and wanted to know where we lived. He then proceeded to tell us that “we... He then proceeded to tell us that “we are lucky he was there because if he wasn’t we wouldn’t be able to find a spot”. We were just trying to unload the car and go to our room and enjoy our vacation. He continued to repeat how “lucky he was that he was there” . We had no idea who he was as he didn’t identify himself and he was not wearing High Noon attire. We asked if he worked there and he rudely snapped “I am the owner”. We all have our bad days and he was obviously having a bad day. It was such a degrading experience for us and we have never been treated with such disrespect by anyone at any level working in a hotel. Next time, hire someone for $10 an hour to watch the cars parking at your hotel. The person you hire will undoubtedly treat your guests with more respect than you did.

A few other comments to share before you decide to book this hotel:

Pool - If you are looking to lounge by the pool during the day bring a lot of sunscreen as the pool area offers a few huts with upright chairs. If you want a lounge chair, there are no umbrellas at the pool so if you are looking for full-sun you have it. Guests at the Seafoam claimed their tables for the entire 3 days we were there. They left their towels and pool toys all day and night.

Security - the gates in the front and the back of the hotel are often left open and if they happen to be closed at night time, you can climb on the wall next to the rear gate and you are in the pool area. We witnessed it many times as we sat at the pool at night.

Morning Coffee - Would be nice to offer a cup of coffee in the lobby for guests. Yes, there are coffee makers but for the price we paid, a cup of coffee in the morning would be a nice “perk”.

This hotel caters to regulars who have been coming for years. If you are not a regular, it’s hit or miss. For us, it was a big miss. More

This resort is very nice,... read more well furnished, very clean, and the perfect place to spend a few days. It is right on the ocean and you can literally walk barefoot from your room to the beach, no streets to cross. It is within walking distance to the restaurants and shops of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, which is the cutest beach town. This trip was the fourth time I’ve stayed here and it was as wonderful as ever!!

I’m sure all the rooms are great, but here are specific comments on a few I’ve been in. Odd numbers seem to be 1st floor and even numbers are 2nd floor.
Best room - #26 - efficiency with a separate kitchen, private, amazing balcony overlooking the ocean.
Another great room - #2 - nice balcony
# 4 - my room on this particular trip. Nice view of ocean and pier
# 18 - one bedroom, nice living area/kitchen and great view of pool and beach

Highly recommend this place, although one of the best things about it is how quiet and reasonably priced it is! Almost want to keep it a hidden gem! 🙂 Can’t wait time go back! More

  The property is gorgeous, clean with a courteous and professional staff! The hotel is family owned and operated. There is so much to do in the local area... read more from exercise to land and sea adventures. We jet skied, segwayed, rode bikes, played tennis and pickle ball and went to a drive through zoo where the animals walked right up to the car.
The hotel environment is incredibly safe with a locked entry gate and a fenced in L shape with the pool in the middle. It is right on the beach and due to local ordinance restricting hotel height, it feels like your own private beach. Town center is adorable and 2 blocks away with restaurants, shops and ice cream stores for the kids. It is an ideal place to give your tweens and teens some freedom.

I would highly recommend this hotel and location for any family vacation! More
